Foundries in Poland and quality standards
Foundries in Poland work to the same European standards as foundries in Germany or Scandinavia. These standards define alloy composition, dimensional tolerances, delivery conditions and casting test methods – and they are what you should reference in an order, so that supplier and customer understand the requirements in the same way.
Standards that matter when ordering aluminum castings
| Standard | Scope |
|---|---|
| PN-EN 1706 | aluminum casting alloys: chemical composition and minimum mechanical properties |
| PN-EN 1676 | aluminum alloy ingots (charge material) for remelting |
| PN-EN ISO 8062 | dimensional tolerances and machining allowances for castings |
| PN-EN 1559 | technical delivery conditions for castings – general part and requirements for aluminum castings |
| PN-EN 1371 | penetrant testing of castings |
| PN-EN 12681 | radiographic testing of castings |
| PN-EN 10204 | types of inspection documents for metal products, e.g., 3.1 inspection certificate |
| ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 | quality and environmental management systems at the plant |
Product standards define the requirements for the casting itself, while ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates cover how a company is managed. A system certificate therefore does not replace the technical requirements on the drawing and in the order.
What to specify when ordering a casting
- alloy grade and material temper, e.g., EN AC-42000 T6 per PN-EN 1706,
- dimensional tolerance grade and machining allowances per PN-EN ISO 8062,
- requirements for defects, leak tightness and testing, if needed,
- type of inspection document per PN-EN 10204 and any other documents that must accompany the delivery.
Quality at our foundry
We operate under an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system and an ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system, certified by TÜV Rheinland Polska. Certificate numbers and expiry dates are given on the page certificates. We cast alloys per PN-EN 1706 from certified charge material, and we describe our acceptance rules in technical acceptance conditions for castings. Strength testing is available on request.
In short: for aluminum castings, the key standards are PN-EN 1706 (alloys), PN-EN ISO 8062 (tolerances), PN-EN 1559 (delivery conditions) and the non-destructive testing standards. ISO 9001 and 14001 certificates apply to the management system, not to the product itself.
