Aluminum Foundries – Castings for Industry
Aluminum foundries supply parts to many branches of industry – wherever low weight, corrosion resistance and the ability to produce a complex shape in a single component matter. However, each industry has different requirements for alloy, accuracy, testing and finishing, so it is worth knowing them before sending an inquiry.
Industries and typical aluminum castings
| Industry | Casting examples | Key considerations |
|---|---|---|
| automotive | housings, brackets, bodies | repeatability in large series, weight, cost per piece |
| rail | components for rail vehicles, overhead catenary systems and control equipment | dynamic loads, operation in changing weather conditions |
| power generation | components for switchgear, transformer substations and transmission lines | corrosion resistance and resistance to outdoor conditions |
| renewable energy | housings and bodies in wind turbines, mounting components for photovoltaic installations | long-term outdoor service |
| medical | components for diagnostic and rehabilitation equipment | accuracy, surface quality, resistance to disinfectants |
| aviation | housings and structural components | low weight, fatigue strength, documentation |
| defense industry | components for vehicles, communication systems and equipment | resistance to shock and heavy-duty use |
| household appliances, electronics, automation | housings, heat sinks, mechanism components | thin walls, heat dissipation, appearance |
We describe details for selected industries on these pages: railway castings, castings for the power industry, castings for renewable energy, medical castings, aerospace castings i castings for the military.
How the industry affects your order
- Alloy and temper – e.g., an alloy with good corrosion resistance for outdoor use, or a heat-treatable alloy when strength is critical.
- Technology – large runs of thin-walled housings usually go to die casting, while short runs and large sizes go to sand molds.
- Testing and documents – in industries with high requirements, measurements, tests and inspection documents are agreed in advance.
- Finishing – e.g., powder coating resistant to outdoor conditions, or polishing and electroplated coatings.
Our aluminum foundry
We cast aluminum alloys to PN-EN 1706 in permanent molds, sand molds and by high-pressure die casting, and we CNC machine, grind and powder coat the castings. We operate under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems (TÜV Rheinland Polska certificates). We produce castings to the customer's documentation, and we agree on the scope of inspection and documents before production.
In short: aluminum foundries work for the automotive, rail, power and renewable energy, medical, aerospace and defense industries, as well as for household appliance and electronics manufacturers, among others. The industry influences the choice of alloy, technology, scope of testing and casting finish.
