Custom aluminum castings
Custom aluminum castings are produced in several stages – from the request for quotation, through tooling and sample castings, to series production and deliveries. Below we describe how an order is handled in our foundry and how long each stage usually takes.
Order fulfillment step by step
- Inquiry – you send a drawing or 3D model, quantities and requirements. For an initial discussion, a sketch or a photo of the part is enough, and an existing part can be scanned and its model recreated.
- Analysis and quotation – we select the process and alloy, suggest any changes that make casting easier and prepare a quotation for tooling and castings.
- Tooling – once the quotation is accepted, we make the pattern, core boxes, permanent mold or die – usually within a few days to a few weeks, depending on complexity.
- Trial castings – we inspect the first castings, including dimensional measurements; any mold corrections are made on site, and strength testing is carried out on request.
- Series production – once approved, we cast the series and then machine, paint or heat-treat the parts as specified in the order.
- Inspection and delivery – quality acceptance according to the agreed terms and shipment; for recurring orders – according to a delivery schedule.
What matters on the customer's side
- a clear drawing with tolerances and machined surfaces marked,
- prompt feedback after sample castings – it speeds up the start of the series,
- information about design changes before tooling is made,
- an order forecast for repeat production.
How a casting is made at our plant
We carry out most stages on site in Janikowo near Poznań: patterns and molds (for some projects, with trusted partners), melting in three furnaces with digital control, permanent mold, sand and high-pressure die casting, CNC machining, grinding and powder coating. As a result, the casting does not travel between subcontractors, and a single supplier is responsible for the whole process. Our terms of sale, delivery and complaints are described in our general terms and conditions of sale.
In short: custom aluminum casting includes inquiry, analysis and quotation, tooling (usually a few days to a few weeks), sample castings, series production, and inspection and delivery.
